How to let go and forgive even if you can’t forget.

In my Coaching sessions this week, people seem to have been holding onto a lot of pain and energy that relates to the heart chakra. Relationships can be very challenging, and I don’t just mean the romantic kind. All relationships with family, friends colleagues require us to know how to communicate, be compassionate and sometimes we are called on to forgive. When we are unable to forgive, it blocks the flow of energy in and out of the heart area. And the thing about this is, it doesn’t affect the person you are angry or annoyed with. No! it affects you, your energy levels, your health, your wellbeing and your life in general.

So learning to let go of stagnant, negative energy, can be extemely useful. When we release blocked energy that has been holding us back. We free ourselves and create space to embrace positive life giving energy. Health improves, happines increases and levels of success are amplified because we have more energy to apply to all that is good in our lives. So whether it is your lover, your mother or your boss that has upset you; now is the time to, ‘Let it go!!’

Use the simple exercise below for forgiving yourself or others.
All you need is your journal a pen, 20 – 30 minutes and the willingness to let go.

Cultivating forgiveness and unconditional love

Light a candle and be still. Take a moment to give thanks for your life and the choices you have made. Ask to be blessed with the strength, insight and grace you need now to create forgiveness. Forgiveness that will free the pain you carry. Forgiveness that will heal each person involved. Forgiveness that changes anger, pain, fear and fiery destructive passion into compassion.

Meditate for 10 minutes, focusing on your breath as it moves through your heart chakra. Allow your heart to open wide; let it fill with love, grace and healing. Write the names of people you wish to forgive, also write what it was that hurt you, that you are now releasing.

Four Stages of Forgiveness

1 Regain your power In your mind’s eye, visualize what this hurt is doing to you.

How is it draining your energy? How is this destructive force of fire (anger/rage,etc.) affecting you?
Make a note in your journal.

2 Reflect back.
Close your eyes and allow the negative energy to lift from you; feel the lightness as you release and let this energy go, breathe it out with each breath – it is not yours. So from whenever it started, regardless of how it was created. it is just energy and you can choose to let it go.  You can choose to transform the energy.
Make a note in your journal of how you feel as you let the energy go.

3 Recognition of universal love
Remember we are all children of the universe, even those who may have done you wrong. Close your eyes, open your heart and feel universal love embrace you. We are all connected through the heart and the air we breathe. Inhale love, peace and harmony. Feel love, exhale love to all beings.
Write down your feelings.

4 Forgiveness
Feel yourself held in unconditional love. See those who hurt you embraced in unconditional love. Let go completely, offer everything up to the universe. Reclaim your power, your energy, love and compassion.
Give thanks for all the blessings received.
Write down your feelings.

As you forgive, energy that once held you back is released. Forgiveness awakens your heart to the essence of the essence and generates agape love, the unconditional kind of love, the greatest love of all!

5. Give thanks 
Take a moment to be still with yourself, give thanks for the releasing work you have done.
write any other thoughts or feeling in your journal.

6. Embracing positive Energy 
Invite into your life the very energy that you want to move forward holding, the energy of Love, the energy of compassion, the energy of Joy, the energy of …… name that which you now embrace….

Know that all is well and that which is invited in will be made manifest.
